Mets 2011 Season Nearly Over
Posted by admin in Carlos Beltran, Ike Davis Mets 1st Baseman, Johan Santana, K-Rod, New York Mets on September 8th, 2011
As the leaves begin to change color and kids go back to school, the New York Mets 2011 season is just about over.
The year was similar to 2010, in which early in the season the Mets outplayed expectations but fell apart right after the All Star Break. 2011 was no different as Jose Reyes and resurgent Carlos Beltran got the Mets off to a fairly good start and kept them within striking distance of a wild-card birth during the first half of the season. Then it all slowly went downhill, Reyes got injured and re-injured, Beltran and K-Rod were traded away, Ike Davis hurt his foot and was out for most of the season. Still no sign of Johan Santana, but he is supposed to make a couple starts before the season ends.
No 90 win team. No playoffs. Nope, another year of watching the Phillies and Yankees tear-up the playoffs, while Mets fans ask themselves the same questions over and over. When will this change?
Hopefully, 2012!
Opening Day Mets vs. Florida
Posted by admin in CitiField, David Wright, Florida Marlins, Fuck the Yankees, Johan Santana, New York Mets, Opening Day, Philadelphia Phillies, Predictions on April 5th, 2010
Mets win, the Mets win! The sensational (not yet) Mets are 1-0 and like usual we dominate on opening day. Against a pitcher in the Marlin’s Josh Johnson, who normally owns us (now 7-1), the Mets looked impressive in front of a sold out CitiField.
Newcomers played well and David Wright went yard, hopefully both of which are signs of good things to come.
Johan Santana is looking like the Cy Young Award candidate that we predicted he would win, he will win, this year. With run support, 7 runs, Johan Santana could be the best pitcher in baseball. He has the advantage of pitching at CitiField, which is where home run hitters become sacrifice-fly hitters.
Yankees blew there opener against the Red Sox. Mets are 1-0 and the Yankees are 0-1. That feels good. Yankees victory last season over the Phillies earned them some love from Mets fans, because as much as we love saying Fuck the Yankees we would much rather them winning over those Phillies. Most Mets fans dislike our division rival much more significantly than even the depths of hatred we show towards the Yankees.
Mets Mets Official 2010 Baseball Season Predictions:
Mets win the division!
Johan wins the Cy Young
Wright finishes in the top 3 for MVP voting.
June 14 is a Day that Will Live in Infamy for Mets Fans

Mets crosstown rivals kicked us out of their mega stadium.
After a 15-0 embarrassment, I don’t even know what to say. I am speechless for the first time this season.
…
Fuck the Yankees
Found my tongue.
Seriously though, I am worried about Johan. He was pitching in the mid to high 90′s at the beginning of the season and he is not in the low 90′s. This is something we should be looking at. Johan Santana hasn’t been his normal lights out self his last few outtings, seemingly getting progressively worse during each of his last several starts.
And then the Worst Game of his entire career today giving up 9 runs and watching his ERA balloon to over 3.
I am worried.
CitiField Mutiny as Johan Santana Wins Slugfest
Posted by Señor Met in Johan Santana, Philadelphia Phillies on June 10th, 2009
Johan Santana had two strikes and the tieing run in scoring postion. Bunt sign called in via a dizzying display of hand swipes and ear pulls and nose twicthes by the third base coach. All that shenanigans is not really needed, obviously Johan Santana is gonna bunt.
Obvious to everyone but Johan Santana.
The ol’ catch’em with their pants down by their ankles trick, fake a bunt and swing for the fences – a double will do – and tie the game.
That’s ballsy, that’s beautiful baseball, that’s the NL’s best pitcher.
Beltran, Wright and Church all had home runs. Phillies had 4 as well. 7 the most ever in a game at the homer unfriendly confines of CitiField. 4 ties the most home runs given up by Johan ever.
This is gonna be one of the most memorable games this season.
The Mets are Good, the Mets are Great, Thank You for this Team

Live Darryl Strawberry Chat Friday afternoon on the four letter juggernaut of all things sports.

The San Francisco Giants made a game of it late.
Then Francisco Slammed the Door.
In the cluth, Face of the Franchise David Wright and Manager Jerry Manuel’s favorite Omir Santos broke the game open in the ninth with RBI base hits.
The reality that all Mets fans have to realize is that the 2009 Mets are simply fun to watch. Especially now that they are winning the close games. Even when they were losing, they were in every game and were getting plenty of opportunities. Now the offense is capitalizing on those same opportunities and we are scoring more runs more often.
Fun to Watch
- On base they steal often. So cool.
- They Play D. Yea, they have their moments of futility, but they also have more then their fair show of Top 10 Plays.
- Mets have the best pitcher in baseball. Every time he pitches I think he will throw the Mets first No-Hitter.
- Doubles and Triples. Love the speed.
- Home Runs. Love the power.
- CitiField.
- Carlos Beltran off to a great start.
- 22+ Run Differential
- 2 Game Lead in the NL east
- No ‘roid infested players
Delgado Has Wheels : Johan Has Speed

1-0 HUGE FUCKING WIN
- Delgado Scores From First on a Throwing Error
- Johan Throws 73 of 101 Pitches for Strikes
- Phillies Crumble
Pulse of the Mets:
Ollie in the pen seems to be working. He hasn’t been in a game in a few days and the Mets have won 3 in a row.
Beltran is batting .388. For the first time this year he didn’t get on base, nearly breaking the John Olerud record for consecutive games reaching base. Is John Olerud available to pinch hit if we need him?
Mets are now back at 500. 13-13 and 1.5 games back of Philly with the Marlins in between.
Bullpen is dropping the hammer as of late.
