Mets win a game, then lose badly.

SEASON OVER.
Atlanta taking 3 out of 4 from the Mets after the All-Star Break is the end. Phillies are rolling, and it just isn’t happening this year.
Not enough Johans.
2nd half starts bad, Gets WORSE

Blown out by Atlanta. What a joke.
Is there any pride on this team?
2nd Half of the Season Starts Poorly

We lost again. This is getting old.
Teams, like the Braves, are looking forward to playing the Mets, because everyone no knows we are beatable, very beatable.
All Star Break (a leg)
Posted by Señor Met in New York Mets on July 15th, 2009
Mets win final game before All Star Break so we are 42-45 at the break. Not what any of us die hard Mets fans had in mind.
This season was so promising. Our lineup was coming into its prime and we had a terrific bullpen on paper, the best in the majors according to many talking heads. And Johan Santana, arguably the best pitcher in the game.
We were suppose to be talking about Cy Young, the Mets first no-hitter, a postseason run, a World Series.
Instead…
We are talking about hips, knees, elbows, and hamstrings.
The Mets are the Grey’s Anatomy of Major League Baseball.
Johan Santana and Pray for Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain
Posted by Señor Met in Cincinnati Reds on July 12th, 2009
Our best chance of making the postseason at this point is Johan Santana. And rain. If all of our games are cancelled because of rain except when it is Johan Santana’s turn to pitch we might still have a chance.
7 shut out innings and a few runs got the win for us today. Johan has 10 w ins though he probably should have 15 if our offense wasn’t so pathetic most times he pitches.
Jeff Francouer first at bat as a NY Met resulted in some RBIs, a promising sign. Count me in as a Francouer fan.
No Surprise, Mets Don’t Score a Single Run
Posted by Señor Met in Cincinnati Reds on July 10th, 2009
This is getting pathetic.
When the lowly Cincinnati Reds shut you out, well lets just say the Fat Lady is Singing.
We shipped Ryan Church to our hated rival the Atlanta Braves in exchange for Jeff Francouer. Outfielder for Outfielder. Doesn’t matter, they both are marginal players at this point and Francouer certainly isn’t Albert Pujols. Don’t even know if Albert Pujols could solve our ills, but at least he could hit a home run every now and then and keep us from getting shut out everyday.
This season is looking like it is all over. Feels like it. Too bad it is not even the All Star break yet.
Dodgers Pound Mets into Ground

De Ja Vu all over again in New York as the Los Angeles Dodgers punched the New York Mets in the mouth.
A lot of runs to a little.
This is getting old real quick.
Despite losing so many games out of so many games plus 3 the Mets are miraculously still alive in the division around 5 1/2 games back. But does it really matter? Unless the Mets get healthy, start scoring runs, and the pitching stops sucking the Mets are in for a long summer hanging out with the Washington Nationals at the bottom of the division.
Oliver Perez gives us dominating 7 walk performance
Posted by Señor Met in Los Angeles Dodgers on July 8th, 2009
Back from injury wild thing Oliver Perez pitched awful but got the win.
We still suck right now, but getting a win at least keeps us from getting swept. Not getting swept in a series basically exceeds my current expectations for the Mets.
We rarely score runs, so putting a 5 spot on the board is not something I expect to see again for awhile.
Manny Ramirez again homered off of us despite the entire stadium focused more on booing him then rooting for the Mets not to blow a lead.
22 innings without scoring a single run
Posted by Señor Met in Los Angeles Dodgers on July 8th, 2009
This team right now is bad.
Losing 9 of 11 just shows how bad.
Did I mention, oh yes I did in the title, we haven’t scored a run in 22 innings.
Talk is Jerry Manuel might be on the hot seat. We get swept some more, and that hot seat will be on fire.
With our payroll we need to be better then this. Injuries or not, 22 innings without scoring a single run is something you might expect from Pittsburgh, Washington or Kansas City. But the New York Mets? Yea the New York Mets who are a bunch of games under .500 and there is not a lot to be hopful for.
Manny Ramirez had three runs batted in. Steroids or not, he had 3 more runs batted in then our entire team. Manny Ramirez also got ejected for arguing balls and strikes. When Manny was thrown out, the Mets fans finally found something to cheer about. Because when you lose 9 to 0 there really isn’t much else to cheer for.
22 innings. And counting.
Mets Get Swept by Phillies.

Season Can’t Get Any Worse
This is gross. Mets can’t score runs.
We just got shut out again.
Johan Santana should be doing the shutting out. Instead he is letting up homers. 2 runs is all it takes to beat a team that doesn’t score.
Mets are in a Free Fall.
All Star Break can’t come soon enough.
