Angel Pagan hit his first home run for the Mets in a couple years, it was a grand slame and the Mets beat Arizona 9-6.

Unless the Angel can do that day in and day out, and a host of other Mets step up there is no way we are making any kind of playoff run.

At 50 wins and 53 losses, there are 7 teams ahead of us in the wild card race and we are 6.5 games back of the wild card leaders.

Delgado is done for the year, Beltran’s knee issue may be career threatening, and Reyes’ hamstring gets better and then gets worse. Internally, our GM Omar Minaya has been on the hot seat with fans and media calling for his firing.

I would like to say this has been one of the most disappointing seasons ever, but the way the last couple ended with embarrasing final week of the season collapses this season appears to be just another one of the many disappointments.

According to the Pirates, the Mets have “Zero Class”

Yea, we sure do have “Zero Class”, but not because Beltran said the Mets getting swept by the Pirates was embarassing, but because the Mets getting swept by the Pirates is embarrasing.

Beltran is right on, we are way better then the Pirates. Just this week, the pirates traded away their best player, Nate McClouth (who happens to be on my fantasy team and now I have to drop him because he is on our bitter rival the Braves), like they do every year. They have not had a winning season since like Bonds left to get closer to his Steroid supplier.

So we already have a rivalry with:

Yankees

Phillies

Braves

Marlins

& to a lesser extent a few others like the Red Sox

but now we get to add a new one with the NL Central Perpetual Doormats. And nothing gets a sub .500 team interested in playing their absolute best more then a rivalry against a big city team.

btw, we lost on Saturday to the NL East Perpetual Doormats by a lot, 7-1. That is also embarrassing. I know I can’t wait to get back to NY.

Figures the replacement for an injured Beltran gets himself injured.

Rx

Yet, we had an AMAZING MAY! We just won another series, had a great homestand, and finished with an 18-8 record this month. A little heart wouldn’t you say Omar Minaya?

The pride of our minor league system, Fernando Martinez, got his first career hit and RBI. However, it was way short of enough to beat the Florida Marlins.

That is because Tim Redding was getting lit up like he did in his last start, sort of like firecrackers on the 4th of July.

I guess Jerry Manuel figured Josh Johnson was going to be tough to beat at home with Tim Redding on the mound for the Mets, so he sat out most of our non-injured stars. And the one premier bat in the lineup, the early season MVP candidate Carlos Beltran’s, left mid-game because of a stomach virus.

Let’s put this ugly loss behind us and get started on another little winning streak ASAP.

Johan Santana had an off day. Randy Johnson had a worse day.

Giving up a bunch of runs, Johan finally got the run support to carry him to a victory. 9 New York Mets to 6 San Francisco Giants.

David Wright and Carlos Beltran had doubles and RBIs. Gary Sheffield hat multiple hits as the cleanup hitter. Ramon Castro had a sacrifice fly making a productive 1-2 punch of Castro and Omir Santos behind the plate.

Mets are 12-3 in May.

The San Francisco Giants made a game of it late.

Then Francisco Slammed the Door.

In the cluth, Face of the Franchise David Wright and Manager Jerry Manuel’s favorite Omir Santos broke the game open in the ninth with RBI base hits.

The reality that all Mets fans have to realize is that the 2009 Mets are simply fun to watch. Especially now that they are winning the close games. Even when they were losing, they were in every game and were getting plenty of opportunities. Now the offense is capitalizing on those same opportunities and we are scoring more runs more often.

Fun to Watch

On base they steal often. So cool.

They Play D. Yea, they have their moments of futility, but they also have more then their fair show of Top 10 Plays.

Mets have the best pitcher in baseball. Every time he pitches I think he will throw the Mets first No-Hitter.

Doubles and Triples. Love the speed.

Home Runs. Love the power.

CitiField.

Carlos Beltran off to a great start.

22+ Run Differential

2 Game Lead in the NL east

No ‘roid infested players
