Mets Scrap Heap Pitcher Embarrasses Yankees at Yankee Stadium

Fernando Nieve had not won a game in three years.

All it would take to turn his fortune around would be to give it a try against the World’s most overpaid -- underachieving -- drug using -- mega stars on the planet, the New York Yankees.

Fuck the Yankees. Had to get that off my chest.

Anyway, Yankees looked like fools in their 6-2 loss to the Mets, with Omir Santos lighting them up. Even Gary Sheffield said remember when I used to jack up homers for you with a blast.

If we can win Sunday, we can forget about the Luis Castillo stupid stupid play yesterday. Actually, we will never forget that stupid stupid play.

NL East Perpetual Doormats

You know who they are. The joke of all jokes. The butt of all butts. The We Tried to Spend a Bunch of Money in the Offseason on a Player that Would Not for 80 Million years ($) Ever Sign with Us. Why would anyone lose themselves in obscurity. Career over before the ink dries.

Hitters AB R H RBI BB SO LOB AVG
C Guzman SS 4 1 0 1 1 3 0 .340
N Johnson 1B 5 0 3 1 0 1 3 .337
R Zimmerman 3B 3 1 0 0 2 3 2 .333
A Dunn RF 4 1 1 2 0 2 3 .283
J Willingham LF 3 1 1 0 1 2 2 .228
R Belliard 2B 3 0 0 0 1 0 2 .164
J Maxwell CF 2 0 0 0 1 2 1 .150
W Nieves C 4 0 0 0 0 1 3 .283

What a joke. The Montreal Expos were much better. The NL East Perpetual Doormats should be in Las Vegas.

By the way, the Pride of the NL East swept the NL East Perpetual Doormats with Gary Sheffield contributing.

Oh, and I guess I should mention the 5 RBIs and Home Run hit by Daniel Murphy.

I am really warming up to Daniel Murphy at 1st Base.

K-Rod Perfect in 2009 : Sheffield Just Perfect

Back from a lay off from back spasms, K-Rod slammed the door on the NL EAST’s Perpetual Doormat. obviously the Nationals suck, but it is still nice to get a few easy wins.

Gary Sheffield has stepped into the cleanup hitters role since Delgado has been out. Sheffield is just taring shit up.

Today was Memorial Day. MetsMets.com would like to say Thank You and God Bless to all those that have protected all our freedoms, like watching a baseball game on a Monday afternoon while BBQing with some friends and enjoying some Blue Moon.

Especially when you get to see Gary Sheffield bust open a game with a home run that went the, the, the, ABSOLUTE MINIMUM.

The ball hit the line at the top of the wall and replays had to uphold the homerun call.

Washington National Fans suck at catching just as much as the Washington Nationals suck at catching. The ball went through a few outstretched hands which may have obscured the call enough to declare it only a double. But they blew it and Sheffield is again well on his way to 600!

Johan gets Win at Fenway Park Despite Obstacles

And by obstacles I mean the Mets.

Super Dooper poor defense which is becoming the norm is hard to overcome.

Thankfully, Johan Santana is even harder to overcome. Another solid outing limiting the high powered Red Sox offense who were helped by 3 NY errors to only 3 runs.

Plus we got Gary Sheffield jacking another bomb, at 502 he is well on his way to 600.

Francisco’s save kept him perfect on the year in save opportunities. After last years debacle, that sounds too good to be true. But we Love it. And so does Johan.

The issue here is yes, Johan can overcome 3 errors in a game and get a win. I just don’t feel very confident any of our other starters can overcome 3 errors and get a win. After each error, Johan got every batter afterwards in each inning out.  That is called perserverance.

Johan Gets Run Support When He Needed It the Most

Johan Santana had an off day. Randy Johnson had a worse day.

Giving up a bunch of runs, Johan finally got the run support to carry him to a victory. 9 New York Mets to 6 San Francisco Giants.

David Wright and Carlos Beltran had doubles and RBIs. Gary Sheffield hat multiple hits as the cleanup hitter. Ramon Castro had a sacrifice fly making a productive 1-2 punch of Castro and Omir Santos behind the plate.

Mets are 12-3 in May.

This Mets Blog had a huge spike in traffic after my post about the New York Mets First CitiField Streaker. Go Figure.

Gary Sheffield Hits 500th Home Run Milestone

And it was clutch.

Mets trailing 3-4, Gary Sheffield tied the game on a home run to left field.

“I was so excited that, you know, when I looked over to the dugout, those were the guys”

“I appreciate every one of those guys. They’ve been very special to me.”

Luis Castillo then made sure the Mets would be celebrating after the game by hitting a game winning walk-off base hit scoring Carlos Delgado. Mets win 5-4 over the Milwaulkee Brewers. This is what Luis Castillo needed. This is what Mets fans needed from Luis Castillo.

Maybe Gary will go into the Hall of Fame as a Met?

“Just to join that 500 club, you know. Now I can say I’m in the club and, you know, it’s like getting your degree. Nobody can never take that away from you”
