Johan Gets Run Support When He Needed It the Most

Johan Santana had an off day. Randy Johnson had a worse day.

Giving up a bunch of runs, Johan finally got the run support to carry him to a victory. 9 New York Mets to 6 San Francisco Giants.

David Wright and Carlos Beltran had doubles and RBIs. Gary Sheffield hat multiple hits as the cleanup hitter. Ramon Castro had a sacrifice fly making a productive 1-2 punch of Castro and Omir Santos behind the plate.

Mets are 12-3 in May.

This Mets Blog had a huge spike in traffic after my post about the New York Mets First CitiField Streaker. Go Figure.

All Good Things Have to Come to an End

Just wish it didn’t have to happen against the Braves. 40,497 CitiFans the game would agree.

Johan Santana was brilliant, like always. No earned runs. A NL leading .78 ERA.

Unfortunately, as is the case when Johan is brilliant the Mets offense and defense are anything but. Errors and missed opportunities paved the way for Derick Lowe and Atlanta to beat the Mets 8-3.

Johan’s 13th consecutive start allowing 2 earned runs or less is only 2 behind Doc Gooden’s Mets record of 15 consecutive starts allowing 2 runs or less. Consider this record broken.

We are still in first.

Delgado Has Wheels : Johan Has Speed

1-0 HUGE FUCKING WIN

  • Delgado Scores From First on a Throwing Error
  • Johan Throws 73 of 101 Pitches for Strikes
  • Phillies Crumble
Carlos Delgado Safe At Home

Carlos Delgado Safe At Home

Pulse of the Mets:

Ollie in the pen seems to be working. He hasn’t been in a game in a few days and the Mets have won 3 in a row.

Beltran is batting .388. For the first time this year he didn’t get on base, nearly breaking the John Olerud record for consecutive games reaching base. Is John Olerud available to pinch hit if we need him?

Mets are now back at 500. 13-13 and 1.5 games back of Philly with the Marlins in between.

Bullpen is dropping the hammer as of late.

Mike “The Pride of Wright Patterson AFB, OH” Pelfrey

is now undefeated during his 2009 pitching campagne. 3 wins – 0 losses.

Never mind the over 6 ERA, Mike Pelfrey somehow inspires the Mets bats to give him enough help to get the win.

Johan must be jealous, LOL.

Today Daniel Murphy stepped up and gave Pelfrey what he needed.

And we got first licks on our division rival Philadelphia Phillies.

Let’s Sweep These Cocky SOB’s and send them an early season message. Last year was a fluke and we are damn sure not letting the Phillies sneak into the playoffs again.

If Only the Whole Team was Made-Up of Johans

If the entire team had the “IT” that Johan Santana has, then we could be talking about an undefeated season. That is right, an undefeated season. Because Johan brings IT day in and day out.

I wish I could say that about anybody else right now.

Instead, another great pitching performance is wasted because of the “it” that has plagued the Mets all season.

Gross negligence at the plate. 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position. 14 stranded base runners.

The Mets had a chance yesterday and today to keep the Marlins reeling. Instead, the Marlins escape NY feeling great about themselves. Another come from behind victory, this one 4-3, in which the Marlins again took advantage of the Mets supposed strength – our bullpen.

We had better do something, because this had better not be it!?!

Johan K’s 10

Johan Santana adds to his Cy Young resume giving up only one run to the Washington Nationals.

Meanwhile, the Mets offense does the absolute minimum like usual when Johan is on the mound. As bad as going 2 for 18 with runners in scoring position and stranding 13 base runners sounds, the Mets offense actually looked stellar compared to the inept Washington team that went 0 for 7 with runners in scoring position.

Thank goodness we are playing Washington or the Mets would have blown another pitching gem by Johan. Hopefully, the Mets can use this win to gain some positive momentum.

Happy Birthday Carlos Beltran!

Mets Score 8. Lose by 4.

After getting swept out of Saint Louis by Albert Pujols, who connected off of sub-par pitching all week, the Mets are lucky to be heading to a must needed series against the National League punching bag – Washington Nationals.

We are a pathetic 6-9. We had better show up big time against Washington because we are already 5 games behind the Marlins and the season just started three weeks ago.

In more inspiring news:
Even if the Mets don’t score a whole lotta runs for Johan Santana, at least he still shakes their hands.

Johan Practically Guarantees He Won’t Give Up Another Run This Season

And if the Mets can score at least one run like they did today, then Johan will be the unanimous Cy Young Award winner.

Mets win 1-0.

Johan can carry us through the postseason this year… If we can just make the postseason this year.

Santana (2-1) has allowed only one earned run in 19 2/3 innings so far this season. A ridiculous 0.46 ERA. The Mets high powered offense has scored a whopping four runs during Johan’s three starts.

Johan Santana

Johan Santana

Jose Reyes is the hero at the plate with the game’s only RBI. If of course you can consider a fielders choice, run scoring ground out the definition of a hero.

More importantly, the Mets 1-2 punch in the bullpen with Putz and Rodriguez has shortened the games to 7 innings. Both locked down the win today allowing only one base runner combined.

The strength in the bullpen takes care of 1/2 of the issues that affect Johan’s ability to win 25 – 30 games this season.

If, and this is a much bigger if, the Mets offense doesn’t take a day off every time Johan pitches and instead performs like they should, we could be watching the greatest pitching season of the modern era.

Johan Finds No Runs in His Easter Basket

Easter Day should be a day off. At least that is what the lineup thought. Factor in its Johan pitching so we only need a couple runs anyway. For that you get a 2-1 loss to the Rotten Fish.

Enough already, score some runs for Johan please, this guy is in the prime of his career. Johan should win the Cy Young Award unaminously this year while winning 25 or more games.

TRIVIA? Who was the Mets last 20 game winner. First to leave correct answer in comment section wins!

Thief Bernie Madoff opening day at CitiField tickets were ebayed for for $7,500 today. I hope the person who won the auction gives the tickets to some kids whose parents were fucked over by the only Cheater worse then A-Rod.
