Oliver Perez gives us dominating 7 walk performance
Posted by Señor Met in Los Angeles Dodgers on July 8th, 2009
Back from injury wild thing Oliver Perez pitched awful but got the win.
We still suck right now, but getting a win at least keeps us from getting swept. Not getting swept in a series basically exceeds my current expectations for the Mets.
We rarely score runs, so putting a 5 spot on the board is not something I expect to see again for awhile.
Manny Ramirez again homered off of us despite the entire stadium focused more on booing him then rooting for the Mets not to blow a lead.
Interleague Recap: Lost the Battle but Won the War
Posted by Señor Met in Boston Red Sox on May 26th, 2009
In Baseball Lingo, Lost the game, Won the Series.
Red Sox scored a bunch of runs during the third game of the interleague series so they avoided the sweep.
Mets finish the 12 game road trip 6-6. Obviously could be better but, most of those teams were playoff caliber teams and we are a bit banged up right now.
- Delgado out a couple months with hip issues.
- Reyes out with calf issues. Came back after a lay off for a game and a half before he was out again. Hope this doesn’t linger after he comes back.
- K-Rod back spasms has started becoming an issue.
- Oliver has McDonald’s, Burger King, Wendy’s and In and Out Burger issues.
Carlos Delgado 5 RBI’s Makes It 5 Wins
Posted by Señor Met in Pittsburgh Pirates on May 9th, 2009
Mets are on a roll after Carlos Delgado lit up the scoreboard against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
For the last week, the Mets have been doing everything they weren’t doing earlier in the year. Clutch hitting, effective starting pitching, and power hitting. Let’s keep it up!
Great game by Jonathan Niese who was called up to replace Oliver Perez in the rotation. Niese’s effectiveness in this role is vital for the Mets because he is our go to guy when we need a fill in.
Delgado Has Wheels : Johan Has Speed
Posted by Señor Met in Johan Santana, Philadelphia Phillies on May 6th, 2009
1-0 HUGE FUCKING WIN
- Delgado Scores From First on a Throwing Error
- Johan Throws 73 of 101 Pitches for Strikes
- Phillies Crumble
Pulse of the Mets:
Ollie in the pen seems to be working. He hasn’t been in a game in a few days and the Mets have won 3 in a row.
Beltran is batting .388. For the first time this year he didn’t get on base, nearly breaking the John Olerud record for consecutive games reaching base. Is John Olerud available to pinch hit if we need him?
Mets are now back at 500. 13-13 and 1.5 games back of Philly with the Marlins in between.
Bullpen is dropping the hammer as of late.
Walking Home the Winning Run is Not a Good Decision
Posted by Señor Met in Philadelphia Phillies on May 2nd, 2009
Let me repeat that.
Walking Home the Winning Run is Not a Good Decision.
It is never a good decision to beat yourself.
You ever hear the expression, make them beat you. Well, when you walk a bunch of guys in the bottom of tenth inning with the score tied, you put yourself in a bad position.
But you still have to make them earn it.
Unless of course, you Walk Home the Winning Run. Sean Green did exactly that. He has now lost a couple of games lately with very piss poor relief pitching.
Oliver Perez was still terrible, even against the only team he has had a good history with. So he can’t beat the Phillies, the pathetic Nationals, and for that matter anyone else this year. How many more starting chances does he get? Put him in the bullpen.
Fans sure came out to watch this anti-climatic ending to a baseball game. Attendance: 45,069 in total which is 103.3% of regular season capacity at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
Let’s win Sunday and take the series. We truly need to win Sunday.
3rd Time this Season Mets Fail to Sweep
Posted by Señor Met in Fuck the Yankees, Washington Nationals on April 26th, 2009
The Worst Team in the Major Leagues the Joke of All Jokes the Pathetic Nationals rocked the Mets today 8-1.
Oliver Perez continues to throw junk. In 19 1/3 innings he has given up 15 walks and 23 hits. Wish I could get paid $12 million to throw meatballs.
Thank You 40,000 plus CitiFans for booing the shit out of him.
I have more faith in David Wright. But hopefully the 40,000 plus CitiFans booing the shit out of him can get him to return to his full potential. And David, I don’t mean trying to break your career best 118 strikeout mark that you set last year. Wiffing 23 times so far, in only 70 at-bats, sure seems like your primed to break your record by the all-star break.
I would think 40,000 plus CitiFans would agree on a few things.
- This team needs better starting pitching.
- This team needs better clutch hitting.
- This team needs to never lose to the Nationals.
At least the Red Sox said Fuck The Yankees this week and swept them.
Don’t Strike Out Looking

Swing. Thank You Daniel Murphy for at least swinging at the ball. Gary, You have some explaining to do.
Oliver, allowing 8 runs in just over 4 innings is gonna be your worst outing of the season. We won the opening series against a Griffey-less Cincinnati Reds team on the road so put this game behind you and focus your days off on getting your $36 million ass in shape.
